Today, 98 students formally graduate from Assiniboine at a ceremony in Dauphin.

“These graduates have made a choice to invest in their futures, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate their achievements alongside family and friends,” said Assiniboine president Mark Frison. “Their time at Assiniboine has allowed them not only to develop specific skills and expand their knowledge but also to grow as individuals who will contribute to their communities in meaningful ways.”

Graduating students represent seven different certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma programs. These include Business Administration, Carpentry and Woodworking, Comprehensive Health Care Aide, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education Program Management, Mature Student High School and Practical Nursing.

Thirty-two students are set to graduate with distinction, meaning they achieved at least a 4.0 cumulative weighted grade point average during their studies.

Earlier this year the college unveiled a set of priorities for the Parkland Campus with the aim of developing it into a regional partnership centre. That was coupled with the announcement that the Practical Nursing program was made permanent at the Parkland Campus, with intakes every other September starting this fall.

“We have a clear direction for the Parkland Campus that encourages expansion and diversity in our program offerings for learners while supporting the labour needs of the region,” said Gabe Mercier, Director of Assiniboine’s Parkland Campus. “That growth will contribute to the college-wide goal of doubling our number of graduates by 2025.”

Assiniboine will present 25 monetary and non-monetary awards amounting to more than $10,000 during the Student Achievement Celebration dinner later in the day.

The graduation ceremony will take place today at 2 p.m. at Credit Union Place in Dauphin.

Last week, more than 1,200 Assiniboine students graduated at the Brandon graduation ceremony.
