ACC now taking nursing applications for Brandon

Effective immediately, Assiniboine Community College (ACC) is accepting applications for its two-year Practical Nursing program offered in Brandon. The next two program start dates are September 2015 and January 2016.

“The demand for our nursing program is incredibly high no matter where we offer it. We expect strong interest in the program,” said Karen Hargreaves, Dean of Health and Human Services at ACC. “Graduates are seeing excellent career opportunities in nursing and the larger health care field.”

Class sizes in Brandon allow for 35 students in both the September and January intakes for a total of 70 students.

The college will begin to process and review applications on February 17, 2015. Any applications received prior to 4:30 p.m. on February 17 will be date-stamped as being received February 17 and will be placed in a random draw. As each application is drawn it will be placed in numerical order. This process will continue on a daily basis.

ACC’s Winnipeg campus currently has a waitlist of nursing applicants extending into 2017 and is not open for applications at this time.

The Practical Nursing diploma program teaches clinical nursing skills in a laboratory setting and applied skills in acute and extended care health facilities, personal care homes, community agencies and private homes. The demand for ACC nursing graduates is high; 97 per cent of graduates are employed in occupations related to their training (2012-13 Graduate Survey).
