ACC's annual Holiday Buffet to showcase Prince Edward Hotel

ACC will pay tribute to one of Brandon’s most famous former landmarks, the Prince Edward Hotel, at their upcoming Holiday Buffet on Thursday, November 27.

ACC’s Holiday Buffet is a festive three-day feast that welcomes the community to the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (MICA), a beautiful historic building at the college’s North Hill Campus. Culinary Arts and Hotel & Restaurant Management students and faculty will once again treat guests to a multi-course buffet with all the holiday trimmings.

This year’s event runs from November 25 to 27. The third and final evening will invite visitors to enjoy a special Night at the Prince Eddy theme.

Dishes from historical Prince Edward Hotel menus will be highlighted within the buffet, giving guests a glimpse into the dining habits of hotel visitors nearly 80 years ago.

Those in attendance will be treated to a special screening of local filmmaker Shaun Cameron’s MTS TV Stories From Home documentary, Tales from the Eddy, inside the Manitoba Canola Growers Culinary Theatre prior to or following their meal.

“So much of the story is often taken up with the politics of the demolition. I felt this would be an excellent opportunity to breathe life into a story that, much like the building itself, meant so much to our community,” said Cameron about his film.

The evening will also include a gallery of photographs, encouraging guests to explore a visual history of the grand hotel stretching through its construction, peak, vacancy and demolition.

Proceeds from this event will be placed in a heritage fund to assist ACC’s Foundation in the preservation of rooms and architectural details in buildings located at the college’s North Hill Campus.

Tickets for the traditional Holiday Buffet evenings (November 25 and 26) go on sale by phone on November 12 at a cost of $60 per ticket. Tickets for the Prince Eddy evening (November 27) are available for purchase on November 13 at $75 per ticket. This event is open to all ages.

Last year’s Holiday Buffet sold out in less than three hours. Members of the public may call 204.725.8738 or 800.862.6307 ext 6516 once the phone lines open at 9 a.m. on November 13.
