Cougars Win 2015 Western Shield

The Cougars went undefeated over the weekend to take home the championship.

The team matched up first against the Manitoba representative, provincials champions and rivals, the Prairie Fire. The Cougars won the game 5-4.

On Friday, the team played the South Fraser TNT and came out with a tie 3-3. Next, the Cougars faced the Kamloops Vibe, the defending Western Shield Champions; the Cougars won 3-1. On Saturday, the team played the Alberta representative, Grand Prairie Panthers and won the game 3-1, securing the Cougars a spot in the final.

The Cougars faced the South Fraser TNT on the final Sunday morning and although it seemed to be shot for shot, goal for goal, The Cougars pulled ahead in the third period and held onto the lead winning the game 4-3 to bring home the gold.
