Intermediate photography courses coming up

If you already know your way around your camera — and your computer — but want to take your skills to the next level, we have several opportunities coming up soon

It's almost snapshot season, so it's time to make sure you can capture the best vacation memories!

Luckily, we have a strong suite of photography courses coming up through the spring and summer. Although introductory courses are always popular, we know there are a lot of people out there who want to take their already pretty-good skills and get even better. Here are a couple of courses that are aimed at the intermediate photographer:

Photography 2

Course number CRAF-0060

This course is designed to explore photographic topics with a hands-on approach. Some of the topics to be covered include quality and type of light, texture, macro photography, selective focus, action photography and portrait lighting. Students are encouraged to hare their work and to discuss constructively the work of fellow classmates. Shoots are arranged according to the wishes of participants.

To qualify for our Photography Certificate, you have to take Photography 1 before taking this course, but it's also open to any intermediate photographer with permission of the instructor.

This six-week class is offered:

• Thursday evenings in Brandon, starting April 30
• Wednesday evenings in Dauphin, starting May 13

Photoshop 3

Course number CRAF-0194

This fun course uses creative techniques in Photoshop to create artistic works from your photographs. Topics include HDR (high dynamic range) in Photoshop, creative use of filters plus many other awesome projects. Please bring a selection of your photographs on a jump (flash) drive or CD or on your camera memory card.

Although this course is a continuation of the techniques learned in Photoshop 2, intermediate students may take this course permission of the instructor.

• This six-week course is offered Tuesday evenings in Brandon, starting April 28
