What welding training is right for me?

Did you know that the ACC Centre for Continuing Studies offers two types of training for welders?

If you love careful craftsmanship and building solid things, then a career in welding could be a great fit for you.

Through the Centre for Continuing Studies, ACC will be offering two types of welder training this fall.

Welding is a high-demand trade and you'll have excellent employment opportunities and a high earning potential. Our full-time classes startin September and you could be at work by January.

Welder (Contract Training)

Learn the trade of welding! This program is a complete introduction to welding, including the theory and practical aspects of oxyacetylene, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and special processes. It also includes a work practicum and general fabrication.

This is a four-month program starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 and your month-long practicum wraps up by Jan. 22, 2016. Full-time day classes run at the Len Evans Centre for Trades and Technology at our North Hill Campus in Brandon.

  • Total tuition $5,400 per student
  • Non-refundable commitment fee of $1,650 due by July 15; remainder due by Aug. 14.

You'll graduate with a certificate in welding from ACC. Graduates who achieve 70% or higher in all subjects may be eligible for credit towards in-school training for Level 1 Apprenticeship.

Production Welder

Learn the trade of production welding! This program focuses on the theory and practical aspects of oxyacetylene, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and special processes. You’ll learn layout and blueprint reading to general fabrication skills that will let you start your career doing welding in a manufacturing setting.

This is a four-month program starting Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 and wrapping up Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015. Classes run three nights a week in the evening, plus all day Saturday, at the Len Evans Centre for Trades and Technology at our North Hill Campus in Brandon.

  • Total tuition $3,900 per student
  • Non-refundable commitment fee of $1,650 due by July 15; remainder due by Aug. 14.

All you need to sign up for either program are your complete Manitoba Grade 12 (or equivalent) and a minimum mark of 60% in your Grade 12 math.
