Please join us on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 3, 2017 for presentations by second-year Communications Engineering Technology students.

Location: Lecture Theatre (Rm 180), Victoria Avenue East Campus

Students will be presenting and demonstrating the work that they have done over the past four months on their final design projects. Following the presentations, students will be available to answer questions. 

 

This Year's Projects

Student: Chris Nantais
Project: R-Track
Project Description: R-track is a wireless communications system designed to track GPS locations of Forest Firefighters and provide an SOS alarm. This system has great potential to reduce injuries and casualties of firefighters while also increasing the ability to better control wildfires.

Student: Miguel Chavez
Project: LivestockTracker
Project Description: This tracking system was designed to track the location of livestock using GPS technology and LPWAN transceivers. The goal is to develop a system that eliminates any monthly costs for data or network access.

Student: Guillermo Maradiaga
Project: Green Shoe
Project Description: Green Shoe is an energy harvesting insole that is designed to store energy produced while you walk. This prototype also has the ability to track your steps and distance through a pedometer that links to an app on your smartphone.

Student: Gleb Korliakov
Project: Im’mediate
Project Description: This system consists of a wearable monitor to analyze a person’s breathing activity and body temperature. This unit has a wireless connection to a central monitoring station that will analyze the data collected and provide a programmable alarm notification for certain key indicators.
