Duration/Start: 1 year/September
If you have the creativity and commitment, ACC’s 12-month Civil Technician certificate program provides the basics in civil engineering technology. You’ll have a part in designing the future—bridges, highways, dams, parks, sewer systems, just a few of the systems that affect our lives.
You’ll begin by developing your skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), land and construction surveying, drafting fundamentals, and the basic design concepts for residential construction.
There are several options available for your continued education. You can choose to take an optional second year to achieve an Environmental Technologies—GIS Infrastructure Specialization diploma. Or you may complete the one year at ACC and graduate with a Civil Technician certificate. Grads are highly sought after by industry and can move directly into the workforce.
ACC has connections with Red River College (RRC) in Winnipeg that allow you to pursue a more focused field of study. RRC offers six diploma programs:
- Architectural/Engineering Technology
- Building Design CAD Technology
- Environmental Protection Technology
- Geomatics Technology
- Municipal Engineering Technology
- Structural Engineering Technology
Whatever path works for you, Civil Technicians remain invaluable resources for construction and development companies, engineering and architectural firms, inspection and testing agencies, manufacturers, fabricators and material suppliers. In addition, you’ll find employment with the engineering departments of municipal, provincial and federal government services.
