“Receiving a scholarship was the difference between going to school and not. I was so grateful to get the extra financial help…it really made the final decision as to whether I would attend college or not.”

Current Campaign: Piping Mezzanine

As a family grows, they sometimes outgrow their living space and may need to build an addition. The same thing happens in our classrooms. A 5th level to the apprenticeship system was added to the certification of plumbers and pipefitters by Apprenticeship Manitoba. This change requires different facilities to accommodate the expansion of gas fitter curriculum.

With the help of the Foundation, Assiniboine will increase the square footage for the gas and pipe fitting component of the program by adding a 700 square foot mezzanine at a cost of $120,000. The space will allow instructors in the Plumbing program to teach students in an atmosphere conducive to acquiring the complete skills needed to graduate. The addition of the mezzanine will keep the program current, enabling our graduates to contribute to industry immediately. The Piping Mezzanine hand out lists the challenges, solution, impact and implementation plan.

Area of Greatest Need

Area of Greatest Need is also referred to as an Opportunities Fund. This fund allows Assiniboine to pursue educational priorities and unexpected opportunities that may arise. The flexibility to respond quickly to enhance student learning and campus life is essential in our goal of exceptional learning experiences.

Planned Giving

A Piping Trades studentPlanned giving is any gift, either outright or deferred, made with forethought about the benefits to a charity and the financial implications to the donor. Planned gifts to Assiniboine Community College Foundation can support student scholarships, awards, bursaries, capital projects, or enhancing student life and experiences, inside or outside the classroom.

In many cases, planned gifts come about because of changes in the life cycle, illness or death of family members. Planned giving can provide taxable incentives, reducing tax bills by almost half while leaving a legacy through a variety of affordable methods suited to your goals, needs and timeline.
