Investors Group gives $11,400 to Assiniboine alumni giving campaign

Matching contributions provides substantial donation for scholarships, awards & bursaries

Assiniboine Community College alumni and employees from Investors Group Brandon office, combined with the company’s matching gift program, donated $11,400 to the college’s Foundation earlier today.

This is the first corporate matching gift for the Alumni Association’s $30K in 30 Days campaign, which is raising funds for Assiniboine’s scholarships, awards and bursaries.

“ACC gave me the knowledge to be able to run my own business,” said Andrew Smart, a 2010 Business Administration graduate, member of the college’s Alumni Association board of directors, and employee at Investors Group. “It makes me proud to give back and support future graduates as I know the impact it will have on them.”

Alumni and employees of the company contributed $5,700 to the campaign. The Investors Group head office matched those funds dollar for dollar, amounting to a further $5,700.

“Investors Group has a long history of involvement with ACC,” said Tim Rowan, Regional Director for Investors Group. “We have had many students complete their practicum in our office, and we currently have 13 graduates from a number of programs working out of the regional office. With the success we’ve had with students and graduates, it makes sense to make this matching gift.”

And a big thank you to Investors Group head office for its support with a matching contribution,” said Caelie Walker, co-chair of the $30 K in 30 Days campaign. “Your generosity will help future students and alumni of Assiniboine.”

The contributions from Investors Group brings the campaign’s total to $19,300. The $30K in 30 Days campaign continues until November 15, coinciding with National Philanthropy Day.
