Denby Kozak and Joslyn Adams have committed to the Assiniboine Cougar women’s soccer team for the 2019 season.

These long time friends from Neepawa, Manitoba, grew up sharing similar interests including a passion for soccer. Both played for the Neepawa United Soccer Association and for their high school, Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute, where they recently competed for a MHSAA AAA provincial championship.

Where the two vastly differ is in their positions on the field. Kozak is able to read the field and competes as a strong defender while Adams has speed and an ability to accelerate as an aggressive striker.

“I love the sport and I’ve always heard such good things about the college so it made my decision easier,” says Denby. “I’m looking forward to getting to know my new teammates and to continue playing soccer and improving my skills.”

“I always wanted to play soccer beyond high school and ACC was very welcoming,” says Adams. “I’m excited to learn different things from new coach’s and players and to compete.”

The Cougars’ coaching staff are excited to bring such talent from the Neepawa region. “I’ve watched these two compete for a long time and can’t wait to see them with a Cougars jersey on,” says women’s soccer recruiter/assistant coach, Gerry Rocan. Head coach, Mark Murray says, “These players fill two major roles in our lineup and will make an immediate positive impact.”

Both student athletes will be taking the College’s Business Administration program in the fall.
