This past March, the BAssiniboine Cougar women’s hockey is off to a hot start with a 7-0 ACHA league record and don’t have any plans of slowing down. The Cougars have added prospect Aidan Roberts as their newest member to next season’s roster.lazers took their season all the way to the 2019 JWHL Championship finals where they were crowned champions.

Roberts was named Most Improved Player at Balmoral Hall for the 2018-19 season and was the WWHSHL Top Rookie in 2016-17 season.

Roberts says that when it came down to making her final decision on post-secondary education, she wanted to grow personally, academically, and in sport.

“What mattered most to me when choosing a school and hockey program was that I find a place where I feel I’ll be happy, as well as grow as a person and hockey player,” said Roberts.

“ACC shows a great community and support towards their student and athletes and I am excited to start the next stage in my life with the Cougars.”

When she isn’t at the rink, Roberts spends her spare time working with minor hockey players on developing their skills. You can also find her working with a retirement home group, and specifically, with a 107-year-old hockey player named Ruby.

“I’ve always valued certain things as a hockey player such as to push myself and to bring a good work ethic as well as tenacity. A few other things I try and bring as a player are a high compete level and to push the tempo of the game, and then bring the right energy on the bench,” said Roberts. “These are everyday habits I try and keep in mind on and off the ice.”

“Aidan is a hard fore-checking forward who angles well and in your face type of player,” said head coach Tony Bertone. “She carries a team-first belief and will be a good addition to our hockey program.”

With the idea of entrepreneurship on her career path, Roberts has applied to the college’s Business Administration program in the fall.
