Position Overview:

Assiniboine College is looking for two highly motivated instructors to co-teach a 12-week academic preparation program being delivered in-person in the community of Nelson House, Manitoba. The program is designed to give students the necessary skills and high school credential to help them successfully transition to a Practical Nursing program. The Manitoba certified teachers will be able to instruct the following courses: Essential Math 40S, ELA: Technical Communication 40S, and/or Biology 40S

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use the provided course material to deliver Manitoba curriculum to adult students
  • Complete administrative duties such as student evaluations and attendance
  • Prepare students for post-secondary learning by providing in-class lessons and assessment, including individualized feedback and support
  • Work together with our Education Consultant to ensure a positive student learning environment that supports a high level of student engagement

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree and a Manitoba Teaching Certificate
  • Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • A personable and friendly approach to instruction and classroom management including maintaining a respectful classroom
  • Familiarity with Manitoba curriculum for grade 12 math, grade 12 English, and/or grade 12 biology
  • A basic competency with computers
  • Preferably experience teaching adults
