Position Overview:

The Student Service Worker (SSW) provides support to students and assists in the delivery of student services under the direction of the Student Success Advisor. The SSW helps students navigate college processes, supports academic and personal development, and contributes to a positive student experience. This role involves direct student contact, administrative support, and collaboration with college staff and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with general enquiries about college programs, admissions, course selection, timetables, and funding opportunities.
  • Provide basic academic advising and coaching, helping students identify their aspirations and supporting their academic success.
  • Refer students to appropriate college resources and services, including academic support, accessibility services, and financial aid.
  • Support the Student Success Advisor in implementing proactive strategies to recruit, assist, and retain students.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on college courses, resources, and support services.
  • Help organize and participate in orientation sessions, career days, and other student-focused events.
  • Assist in the administration and scoring of achievement level tests and surveys as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and services provided.
  • Support the Student Success Advisor in collecting and managing data related to student advising and outcomes.
  • Liaise with high school counsellors, senior administrators, and external agencies to promote college programs and services.
  • Work closely with other campus student services to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Student Success Advisor.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant education (2-year diploma) and/or significant relevant experience.
  • Some experience in student services, counselling, or a related area is preferred.
  • Knowledge of college programs, resources, and basic educational methods.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Sensitivity and understanding in working with diverse student populations.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to use technology in service delivery.
