While there are currently no changes to how we deliver programs required under the current Public Health Orders, we have made the decision to temporarily change the delivery of your specific program to become partially remote.

Technology Requirements

For this program, students are expected to own or acquire a laptop computer with the specifications detailed on our Technology Requirements webpage and bring on campus when instructed.

Work Integrated Learning Component

There will be no change to this unless public health determines restrictions that would prevent work integrated learning from occurring in industry.

Safe Work Practice and Personal Protective Equipment Needs

PPE requirements will be noted for students on their tools & supplies lists. These can be found on your specific program’s webpage. Tools & supplies lists will be available in early December. The college’s PPE standards for on campus activities will reflect current public health standards, and program and activity-specific safe work practices. Clinical education continues to be an expectation of the program, preparing students with the competencies and confidence to work in this field following graduation. Assiniboine works with health authorities and CLPNM to ensure clinical placement requirements for students are met.

Students will receive further details closer to their clinical placement start dates.

Students should expect and plan to be on campus for their program. ‘Learn by doing’ through the use of college facilities and equipment continues to be an important aspect of this program. It is our intention as a college to move toward the more traditional in-person experience as public health conditions permit.

Program Delivery

Assiniboine Community College continues to prioritize safe campus operations for our college community. While there are currently no changes to how we deliver programs required under the current Public Health Orders, we have made the decision to temporarily change the delivery of the following apprenticeship programs to become partially remote for the theory classes from January 5 – February 25, 2022:

  • Automotive Service Technician Level 2
  • Agricultural Equipment Technician Level 3 and Level 4
  • Carpenter Level 4
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Level 1
  • Welder Level 2 and Level 3

All practical / shop / labs for these programs will be on campus, in person beginning January 5, 2022 (times may vary, see timetables).

The following apprenticeship programs will remain in person, on campus for both theory and practical:

  • Construction Electrician Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4
