Vincent Massey graduate, Evan Lavallee has committed to the 2021 Cougar Men’s Soccer team.

Lavallee is originally from Cranberry Portage, Manitoba but moved to Brandon in 2010.

Standing 6’0 tall, he is a physical midfielder that enjoys working out and watching anime in his spare time. He last played with the Brandon United Football Club and the Vincent Massey Vikings. He received the Viking Coaches Award after the 2018-19 season but feels he has learned great skills from both his former teams.

Lavallee is competitive and was drawn to the Cougars program because of the new coach and the chance to build a new program.

“When I first came to Brandon my brother would play with the kids at recess and I wanted to play too and now soccer is all I think about,” said Lavallee. “I would say my strongest attributes are finding open space and opening space for others on the field.”

Head Coach Chris McLachlan is looking forward to having the skilled midfielder on the roster.

“Evan started off as a defender but is a player that can aptly fill any position,” said Head Coach Chris McLachlan. “In his last season of high school he moved up to forward and was able to assist with goals and score them as well. He’s a super smart player and performs well under pressure.”

Lavallee will be taking the college’s Carpentry and Woodworking program alongside former Vikings teammate, friend and recent Cougar recruit Jafet Sandoval.
