The Cougars Women’s Volleyball program has no plans on slowing down signing Northern player Paige Garber from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba.

Gaber, a Gilbert Plains Collegiate Institute graduate has been playing the sport she loves since the age of twelve with the passion to win growing with every season.

“Every year I continue to play, my desire to become a better player increases,” said Gaber. “After high school, I knew I would want to take my volleyball career to the next level and the Cougars seemed like the right path to take”.

Garber has seen her fair share of main stage competitions over the years, competing in both the 2018 and 2019 Varsity Provincial Volleyball Championships and named 2019-20 MVA Graduating All-Star.

Cougars Head Coach, Jeff Maxwell looks forward to watching Gaber rise to new challenges that lay ahead at the next level of collegiate volleyball.

“Paige comes from a high school program with a history of winning,” said Maxwell. “We are looking forward to her bringing her championship experiences to our program.”

After a year that benched many due to COVID-19, Gaber is looking forward to meeting and playing with a new squad, learning new skills and the Cougars systems.

“I’m a team player that will always put the team goals ahead of my own personal goals.”

When deciding on which academic course would be the perfect, the decision came easily as she transitioned from high school to college. “I find law to be very interesting as I took similar classes in high school” said Gaber.

Garber has been accepted into the Legal Administration program at Assiniboine Community College for the 2021-22 academic year.
