Assiniboine Community College is a highly regarded and integral part of the economic, cultural and social development of the western region and the province of Manitoba. The School of Trades, Technology and Access Programs is looking for an Academic Chairperson to support our mechanical trades programs.
Academic Chairperson’s provide day-to-day academic and operational leadership to the school, assuring the vitality and academic integrity of the programs and of the teaching and learning functions within the school. The Chairperson works together with college departments, agencies, community leaders, and industry partners to ensure educational programming is high quality, relevant and engaging. The chairperson provides leadership within a team environment that is always working towards providing unparalleled student experiences.
You have a passion to be a leader that inspires, motivates, and influences others and to contribute to a learning environment that fosters academic excellence, student learning and success. You are a proven problem-solver who can provide academic and operational leadership to the students and staff in our Trades programs.
You are innovative and achieve success by employing a collaborative yet influential approach to fostering trust and promoting effective relationships with students and staff. The Chairperson takes a lead role in managing general administrative processes including budget preparation and monitoring, curriculum development, mentoring and evaluating staff.
You have substantive experience in an educational environment or working in the mechanical trades. You will be knowledgeable of the requirements of apprenticeship training and stay connected to the needs of employers in the industry. You have proven leadership, management, and administrative experience, and a Red Seal certification, preferably in a mechanical trade.
