The Learning Curve is seeking an Education Assistant to help students develop effective study skills, test-taking strategies, time management abilities and other learning strategies. As a team, the Learning Curve Educational Assistants also provide general academic support and work in the ACC Test Centre providing proctoring and administrative support
You are passionate about student success and engagement and have a direct understanding of the needs of students in a post-secondary setting. You support students by working with individuals and small groups to facilitate their learning of writing, mathematics, basic science and computer skills.
Your previous experience shows that you are independent and that you use excellent communication and team-work skills to support student success. You have a positive attitude towards change, and recognize and respect diversity and individual differences. Self-motivation combined with and a collaborative spirit are the keys to your success in this position.
As the Education Assistant, you will be responsible for working with instructors, students and staff to provide support to the Learning Curve, the Test Centre, and to Accessibility & Disability Services. You will have solid knowledge of tutoring and mentoring students, and will draw on your diverse experiences to support student success. A college diploma or university degree is required and you will work flexible hours that align with program needs. Experience working in an adult environment and strong knowledge of writing and mathematics would be assets. Travel between Assiniboine College’s Brandon campuses will be required, as well as occasional evening and weekend shifts.
