OLCThe Online Learning Consortium Institute for Professional Development - OLC Institute for Professional Development

The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) is a collaborative community of higher education leaders and innovators, dedicated to advancing quality digital teaching and learning experiences designed to reach and engage the modern learner – anyone, anywhere, anytime.

The OLC Institute for Professional Development offers virtual learning opportunities for e-learning professionals at any stage of their career. Whether you are new to online or a seasoned professional, we offer a wide range of programs for those who are eager to take their career to the next level.

Developed and facilitated by subject matter experts and thought leaders from the field, our Institute offerings are designed to model best practices, promote engagement, and encourage practical application into daily teaching and leadership practices.

OLC Certificate Programs are designed to advance your online teaching and instructional design skills. For ten years, the OLC Institute for Professional Development has offered educators both traditional and advanced certificates for online teaching. We also offer an Instructional Designer Certificate program for experienced online instructional designers, librarians, and multimedia specialists.

The OLC Mastery Series Program emphasizes theory and application of research on key topics and culminates in a Recognition of Mastery in that designated area of study such as leadership, social media, mobile mastery and more. Each series consists of three workshops that help you explore relevant research and use that research to help you design an effective teaching and learning environment.

OLC Workshops are facilitated by experts in the field of online and digital education. We offer a large and growing number of week-long and three-day workshops covering trending topics that are being discussed in our field today. The Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning (IELOL) is a unique blended learning leadership development program sponsored by Penn State and the Online Learning Consortium. Now in its 9th year, it is designed to serve the leadership development needs of professionals and for those emerging leaders responsible for a variety of online learning initiatives.

OLCQuality Matters Teaching Online Certificate - Teaching Online Certificate

The QM Teaching Online Certificate enables instructors to demonstrate their knowledge mastery of online teaching. The seven workshops that make up the Teaching Online Certificate include competencies aligned with QM’s Online Instructor Skill Set. Instructors who take the series are provided with the background knowledge needed for teaching online. 

Instructors will receive a QM Digital Credential upon successful completion of each workshop that is tied to evidence that supports their mastery of each teaching competency. Earning all seven QM Digital Credentials earns instructors the Teaching Online Certificate.

OLCThe University of New South Wales - Learning to Teach Online

This course is designed to help existing educators establish or improve their own online or blended teaching practices, and is suitable for all teachers in higher education, elementary, college, vocational or private education. There is no requirement for participants to possess prior knowledge or experience of online teaching practices or related technologies.

The Learning to Teach Online (LTTO) MOOC will help you develop a working understanding of successful online teaching strategies that you can apply in your own practice. The course is based upon the multi award winning open educational resource developed by Dr. Simon McIntyre and Karin Watson.

Course created by UNSW Australia (The University of New South Wales) and offered through coursera.

OLCMagna Publications - 20-Minute Mentors

The Centre for Learning and Innovation is pleased to provide the ACC community with access to the 20-Minute Mentor Commons from Magna Publications. This subscription gives faculty and staff access to approximately 200 short videos (all 20 minutes or less) that cover topics related to teaching methods (blended, flipped, online), classroom management, course design, grading and feedback, general issues related to faculty development and support, leadership, student engagement, teaching strategies, technology in the classroom, and working with specific student populations.

They deliver actionable insights in highly focused 20 minute presentations designed to fit busy schedules.
