School of Rock n Roll

Welcome to the School of Rock n Roll!

July 22 - July 26, 2019

Monday - Friday 9:00am - 4:30pm

Cost: $199.00 + GST

Students go through the process of forming a rock band all the way to recording a song.  They start right from the beginning – learning instruments, writing songs, rehearsal, and finally recording a performance!  Each student leaves with a recording of the original music made over the course of the week.  Previous musical abilities would be an asset but not required for the camp.  Students must be at least 11 years old to attend.

From your garage to the top of the charts:

Getting Started! Learn rock band fundamentals from the basics on guitar, drums, and bass as well as vocal delivery.  You will learn how to work as a group to deliver a powerful performance.

Tell Your Story! Learn about the history of popular songs and what makes a hit.  Explore the key ingredients that make a song appealing and the structure of songwriting.

Practice makes perfect! Rehearse your own original music, learning how to make the most impact with the instrument or voice that you are using and how to put it all together as a group.

Laying the track! Learn the history of recording and how it has evolved over the years by diving into compression, EQ, effects and of course magic boxes!

About the Instructor

Ben Melnick

Born and raised in Manitoba, Ben Melnick has been involved in many aspects of music, songwriting and the fascination with sound since an early age. Performing live since in his early teens, recording literally hundreds of songs of his own and others in the studio and being a part of various bands and solo projects has been some of his passions. For over 10 years he has taught personal music lessons full time and enjoys passing on his knowledge and experience in music to others. He plays many instruments and is continually pushing the envelope to try to keep making music with impact and showing others how to do the same.
