Overview
Operating a successful retail business is becoming a greater challenge than ever before. This program prepares students to take the next step with their career in the Retail Industry. Retail managers must deal with a number of issues quickly and effectively. Everything from new trends to changing demographics to working with employees and suppliers, a manager tool kit needs to be extensive and efficient. The Retail Management part-time program prepares students to excel in all aspects of a managerial position within retail. A manager must be able to successfully operate a store, manage employees and keep up with emerging trends.
Students learn how to manage their supply chain and operations, including store layout, visual merchandising and strategic planning. In addition, students learn interpersonal development that includes teamwork skills, leadership, group behavior, and human resources management.

Courses & Costs
To graduate with a Retail Management document of achievement, students must successfully complete 120 academic hours.
Tuition, fees and Student Association fess total approximately $1,400. All fees are estimated and subject to change without notice.
Inventory Management (BUSN-0183) | 40 Hours
This course covers the basic principles and concepts concerning managing inventory by giving students a strong understanding of inventory management skills. Students are guided through the most important types of costs, such as cost of item, order cost, and holding or carrying cost. The course then shows students how to use these inventory management principles and tools in practice to maximize the efficiency of procurement procedures.
Management Principles (BUSN-0184) | 20 Hours
This course discusses the development of modern management and is designed to introduce the essential competencies in management. Topics include organizational theory, strategic management, goal setting, planning, decision-making, and an overview of human relations.
Merchandising (MKTG-0067) | 20 Hours
This course examines ways to present merchandise so it's accessible and catches a customer's eye. Students examine the theories and practices related to visual merchandising and space planning. An examination of leading-edge visual merchandising practices is explored with respect to in-store design and layout.
Retail Management (BUSN-0185) | 40 Hours
The emphasis in this course is on the application of marketing/retail strategies and concepts to the retail environment. This course addresses the various types of retailers and retailing strategies, such as retail logistics, store location strategies, E-commerce, vendor relations, store layout, visual merchandising, product development, strategic planning and customer relationship management.
