FIPPA | Assiniboine Community College


FIPPA is the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  This is legislation that guards your personal information that we gather here at the college.  We must keep all of your personal information private unless we have your permission to share it. This means that we cannot share information with a funder, a spouse, a parent, the police; anyone who is not you!). Information that we cannot share includes:

  • Personal information (name, address, phone number, student number, etc.)
  • The fact that you have applied for a program or are registered as a student.
  • Fees owing to the college.
  • Marks or verification that you have attended or completed a course.
  • Class schedules or locations of where you will study here at Assiniboine.
  • Student Aid information.
  • Basically, anything that is not common knowledge and has not been published in our print materials or our website.

If you do need to share some of this information with someone (e.g., a funder), you should complete the Permission Waiver on our Forms page and bring it to the Registrar’s Office.
