Ever since the grade school days of getting a gold star for an assignment or a job well done, students have aspired to achieve and excel in the work they do. Receiving accolades in one’s class is admirable. Winning a school or city-wide honour is tremendously exciting. Being named the best in the province is beyond thrilling.

Assiniboine Community College, Brandon University and the Sexual Education Resource Centre (SERC) are partnering next week to recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Assiniboine will be presenting former Grand Chief Phil Fontaine with an honorary diploma in Community Development at the college’s upcoming graduation ceremony in Brandon on June 1, 2017.
