Position Summary
We are seeking highly motivated Field Breeding Summer Associates to join our Bayer CropScience team for the Summer of 2023. These positions are on a 4-month term, and the positions will be based in the Headingly, MB area.

Duties & Responsibilities
You will experience the full spectrum of implementing a multi-crop small plot field research program. This will include field selection, site and seed preparation, planting, trial maintenance, data collection and harvest.
Assist with trial preparation activities including seed counting, sorting, placement of sample envelopes into planting order and order verification
Assist with the collection of agronomic data from canola, corn and/or soybean plots throughout the season
Follow trial stewardship and/or regulatory guidelines and policies, as per requirements
Safely operate and maintain the research equipment (tractors, planter, sprayer, plot combine), company vehicles and trailers

Qualifications

Qualifications
A current student pursuing an Associate’s (Diploma), Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree program with focus in Agriculture or Sciences desired
Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
Strong organization, time management and problem-solving skills
Good understanding of agronomic practices
Ability to work long hours as required, and own transportation to research farm
Basic mechanical skills; ability to operate farm machinery
Farm background an asset but not required
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Willing to obtain Class G endorsement (AB,SK) or Class 3 (MB) or Full G license (ON) - (heavy trailer endorsement)
This position requires full vaccination against COVID-19
