FAQs
I don’t quite understand how an online information session works… what can I expect?
Our online information sessions are hosted through Zoom, which is an online platform made for giving webinars and hosting online meetings. A webinar is an online presentation where your host is able to share their computer screen and use their microphone in order to show and explain information. Participants can view the content and hear the presenter but they will never be on video or be able to speak to other participants.
After registering for the online information session, you will receive a confirmation email with a link that will allow you to join on the specified date/time. Don’t worry if you register in advance and lose track of the email; you will be sent a reminder email on the day of your session one hour before it is scheduled to start.
Do I need to download anything to participate in the online information session?
Yes, if you are joining from a smartphone or tablet, you will need to download the Zoom app, which is free in any app store. If you are joining from a computer, you may be asked to download the Zoom Desktop Client, which is also free, and should only take about 30-60 seconds to install.
Will I be on video?
No – there is no webcam needed to join and you will NOT be on camera or video at any time.
Can the host hear me?
No – the host of the webinar is the only person who will be speaking to participants.
Why am I asked to test my audio and microphone before joining?
This is just a standard Zoom test to ensure participants have working devices. Don’t worry – your microphone will not be on and no one will be able to hear you at any time. Testing your audio is a good way to ensure that you will be able to hear the host presenting.
What if I have questions during the online information session?
Our online information sessions are hosted through Zoom, which is an online platform made for giving webinars and hosting online meetings. There is a built-in Q&A function that allows participants to type and ask questions directly to the host; the host will answer you privately.
What if I can’t attend the webinar I registered for?
No worries – you can cancel your registration at any time by clicking the cancellation link at the bottom of your confirmation email. Once your registration has been cancelled, you can go ahead and register for another session on your preferred date.
What if I miss the webinar?
No problem, you will receive a follow up email from us explaining how you can register for an alternate date. We would be happy to have you join us when the time is right!
