Visitor Parking FAQs

Can visitor parking be paid for ahead of time online?

No, at this time, the only way to purchase a visitor parking voucher is through the self-service kiosks located near the visitor parking spaces, and in some locations as of July 1, the Pay By Phone app.

Do accessibility stalls still exist? Do those visitors need to pay for parking?

Any vehicle displaying an accessibility parking permit does not need to pay for visitor parking, so long as they are in a designated accessibility space.

Are there still expectant and new parent stalls? Do visitors in those stalls need to pay for parking?

Yes. These stalls are reserved for expectant or new parents. If you park in a stall reserved for expectant or new parents, you must pay for a visitor parking pass.

If I’m planning to be on campus for a few days or weeks in a row for a workshop, training, or short-duration program, what kind of parking should I use?

If you wish to park on campus Monday to Friday during the day, you can use either a paid visitor parking stall or consider a student parking pass, depending on what works better for you.

Is it paid parking 24-7 or are some times of day free?

Paid visitor parking is in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Parking in these visitor spaces is free after 5 p.m., on weekends and on STAT holidays when the college services are not available. This is keeping with the rest of the staff and student parking spaces at these campuses, which allows for free, scramble parking evenings and weekends.

Overnight parking is not permitted unless special arrangements have been made with security. The college assumes no liability for vehicles left overnight.

Will the college tow vehicles if they are illegally parked in a visitor stall (e.g., no pass or an expired pass)?

Yes, your vehicle may be ticketed and/or towed. Assiniboine reserves the right to tow vehicles if they are in violation of visitor parking rules. In general, towing is reserved for vehicles that repeatedly contravene established parking rules or are parked in a manner that is an interruption to others or a safety issue (e.g., blocking entranceways or fire lanes).
