Overview
Position Summary:
SMFRC Youth Programs is hiring a dedicated and community-minded individual to support our Youth Empowerment & Inclusion Initiative over the summer. This initiative promotes leadership, inclusion, and social connection among youth. This role includes a focus on inclusion strategies for military-connected families at CFB Shilo, with particular attention to youth with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the coordination and delivery of inclusive youth programming and community events.
- Help create safe, welcoming environments for youth from diverse and military-connected backgrounds.
- Assist with outreach and engagement of youth participants, especially those facing systemic barriers.
- Conduct research on successful programs for children and youth with additional needs, and summarize findings that could be adapted to support the unique context of military families at CFB Shilo.
- Collaborate with staff to identify opportunities to tailor programs to the needs of military-connected youth with disabilities.
-Support documentation and reporting of summer activities and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Youth ages 18–29 years
- Interest in youth work, inclusion, community development, and/or disability advocacy.
- Lived experience or connection to military families or the special needs community is a strong asset.
- Strong research, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work respectfully in diverse settings, including military communities.
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
