Jr Project Supervisor / Quality Assurance

Overview

General Scope
Primarily, the successful candidate will be responsible to monitoring and reporting on all field level operations for the annual Manitoba highway line painting contract and ensure that our contractual obligations are met. You will be working directly with the painting crews and monitoring operations in Manitoba to assure that completion dates are met.

This is an out of town, in the field position. The successful candidate will be traveling with the paint crews throughout Manitoba.

Job Duration
This job will begin the first week of May 2021 and go until the end of August 2021

Duties

Schedule- You are responsible provide daily updates on schedule and forecast the up coming work.
• Plan daily operations
• Meet target completion dates
• Plan the routes to be painted for the crews
• Plan for material requirements: location and supply.
• Organize & make arrangements for delivery of materials
• Plan the Accommodations daily.
• Plan for scheduled time off
• Schedule drive throughs with Government of Manitoba
• Plan for Equipment maintenance

Communicate
You must be in constant contact with Government of Manitoba representative, keeping them updated on the progress of the work. You will be their main point of contact for this contract. You will be required to report to office daily. A the jr. supervisor on this project you will be required to have excellent communication with everyone involved.

Record keeping
You will be responsible to submit job information on a daily basis, no questions asked. This includes:
• Progress reporting
• Material reports
• Time sheets
• Record all other costs associated with Manitoba operations: fuel, accommodations, etc.
• Job report daily.
• Summary report via excel updated daily.
• Provide daily progress updates as well as provide summary reports of work completed on a weekly basis.
• Keep a journal of the daily operations and activities of the crew

Safety
As the Jr. Supervisor of this contract we will need you to act as the Safety representative for the duration of the project.
Ensure that operations are conducted safely.
• Conduct daily tailgate meetings: field level hazard assessment. These must be documented and submitted to the office.
• Conduct topical safety meetings monthly. These will cover topics as directed by office.
• Safety inspections of operations and equipment—sign off on all.
• Ensure that workers are doing their jobs safely, wearing proper PPE, etc. Correct unsafe actions. Write up if necessary.
• fill out paperwork documenting incidents, accidents, near misses, and first aid. Must be submitted to the office directly.
• If and when a WCB injury occurs, it will be your responsibility to report.
• It will be your responsibility to ensure that the crew fills out their driver’s log books each day. You must show the crew how to fill these out and ensure that they are filled out correctly over the course of the summer. You must also submit copies of log books to the office monthly.

Quality Assurance
The contractor shall maintain records of QCIP data, complaints from the public and other details relevant to the work and shall provide these records to the pavement program manager daily.
• It will be your responsibility to ensure that painting meets specification
• Applications rates are being monitored and applied at the correct rates ( glass bead & paint)
• Ensure paperwork is filled out by the QC driver- You would sign off each day
• Document complaints from the public: safety, paint claims, etc.
• Submit all documents to the pavement program manager.
• Do visual inspections of every single roadway painted
• Organize your QC documentation so that it will correspond to material reports and sections of roadway.
• When errors are identified, you will notify the paint truck foreman to make corrections. But you will also make sure that any errors made are fixed immediately before moving on to another section of work.
• Maintain a log of all errors made with a least a Picture & describe what happened, who did it and how it will or was fixed.

Equipment Maintenance
• Make sure that equipment is being inspected daily and paper work filled out.
• Report equipment issues to Wetaskiwin Shop immediately.
• You will be required to find local shops, welders, etc. to conduct maintenance and repairs on the equipment.

Field Work
• Filling in for missing staff on paint crews if required
• Assisting paint crew when needed

Work schedule will be 6 days / week on 1 day off

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Workspace
Experience with progress reporting
CET or similar schooling would be an asset
Clean drivers abstract, you will be following paint crews throughout the province
