Sr. Finance Analyst - Costing

Overview

The Opportunity:

This position is responsible for procedures and reporting controls to ensure plant bill of materials and raw material costs are accurate, which are critical in supporting pricing decisions, plant performance reporting, and inventory management. A solid understanding of the relationship between raw material markets and finished product costs is essential to providing relevant information to support pricing. Strong communication and technical skills are required to develop and implement procedures that are practical and effective at the plant and administration levels.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

• Manage the Centralized Bill of Material update process
• Weekly Cost updates
• Cause of Change Analysis & Communication
• Forecast and Budget cost of product analysis
• Raw material cost trend analysis
• New product cost estimates
• Provide detailed yield/manufacturing analytics to management for decision making purposes.
• Investigate and correct, if necessary, any yield discrepancies, carryover, production.
• Ensure controls are in place to correctly report manufacturing performance.
• Investigate front end hog weight/quantity in discrepancies.
• Be a yield subject matter expert and assist manufacturing Generals/Supervisors in their understanding of yield reporting. Spend time on the floor with Generals/Supervisors and develop a close working relationship.
• Provide financial analysis on Bill of Material change requests.
• Work with manufacturing/engineering/finance to put in place more efficient and accurate procedures.
• Be familiar with new SKU process and assist in ensuring all new sku’s are setup correctly.
• Monitor Rework and ensure all entries into SAP are complete.
• As part of Finance team participate in “finance buddy” program as required as well as assist in period end duties where required.
• Be active and participate in Six Sigma projects. Strive to Six Sigmatize your function.
• Supervise and develop direct reports to maximize their performance and contributions
• Critical weekly and monthly deadlines are met and provide accurate and timely reporting
• Overhead management support provided as required to Management Team
• Support Plant Continuous Improvement projects and achievement of plant targets
• Developmental criteria of direct reports are achieved each year

Qualifications

What you will bring:

• Business Degree or Diploma
• Accounting designated or working towards designation
• 2-3 years Manufacturing Costing experience
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and MS Access
• Exposure to SAP environment an asset
• Self motivated with ability to work autonomously
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Strong leadership and team building skills
• The ability to work cross-functionally
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
