Financial Aid and Awards
The Financial Aid and Awards Office helps students with all financial need assistance. We are here to help students with government student loans and scholarships and bursaries. We also help students with guidance or troubleshooting with Training and Employment Services, sponsorship, bank loans, or other funding options.
The government Student Loan program has recently changed and there is now more money and more free money available to students.
The Scholarship and Bursary section of the Assiniboine website was just recently redeveloped and we encourage all students to seek out awards that available to students.
The college also has an Emergency Student Bursary/Loan fund. If situations unforeseen circumstances arise during the academic year where you are in financial need, contact your Student Success Advisor. They will assist you in completing a form to request funds to help with emergency situations.
There are many stressors with being a student and we want to make sure finances are not one of them. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance with all your financial aid inquiries.
On behalf of our team at Indigenous Affairs, welcome to Assiniboine!
Assiniboine acknowledges that its campuses are located on treaty 1 and treaty 2 territory, the traditional lands of the Dakota, the Néhiyaw (Cree), Anishinabe, Ojibwe, Oji-Cree, Dene, and birth and the homeland of the Métis Nation. We recognize their stewardship of these lands, our commitment to reconciling past harms, and the intent of those treaties- to share and care for the land for as long as the sun shines the grass grows, and the rivers flow.
Our Indigenous Affairs team offers a wide range of support and services to assist students along their post-secondary journey. We liaise with academic advisors, connect students with important community resources, and provide guidance to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students from a holistic perspective to support their academic goals. We act as a resource for all students and faculty in their efforts to acquire a true understanding of Indigenous cultures and ways of knowing.
Elders and Knowledge Keepers from a cross-section of First Nation and Metis communities are available throughout the year to share their knowledge, wisdom, and unique perspectives with students, staff, and faculty. They offer classroom teachings, traditional ceremony, access to sharing lodges, cultural activities, and one on one or group support. Several Elders are available outside of school hours by appointment.
Several college campus-wide events and activities are normally held each year to draw awareness to and celebrate Indigenous culture and tradition. Please stay tuned for updates on how we plan to offer these engagements for the 2022-23 academic year.
Stay safe, work hard, respect yourself, and have a great year.
