Public Transportation

Brandon

Students enrolled in programs at our North Hill or Victoria Avenue East campuses may be eligible for a Universal Bus Pass (U-Pass) if the cost is included as a part of the Students’ Association fees for their program.

A U-Pass is valid for the full academic year (late August through early September of the following year), allowing you to ride Brandon Transit regular route buses year-round at no additional cost.

Returning students must pick up a new U-Pass each academic year.

Eligibility

Generally, to be eligible for a U-Pass, students must be actively enrolled in a program that is at least one term in length (4+ months) and designed to be full-time (though you may be studying on a part-time basis). Students enrolled in the Mature Student High School program in Brandon may also be eligible for a U-Pass.

Not all Brandon-based students are eligible for a U-Pass. Eligibility depends on whether the Students’ Association fees in your program cover this. For example, apprentices and those studying in shorter duration programs and courses are examples of student groups who are not eligible for a U-Pass. While not eligible for the U-Pass, you may qualify for Brandon Transit’s reduced rate, post-secondary monthly bus pass, which can be purchased directly from Brandon Transit. Visit Brandon Transit’s website brandontransit.ca/transit-fares for more information.

If you have questions about your eligibility, visit the Registrar’s Office at the Victoria Avenue East campus.

U-Pass Use Requirements
  • Remain an active Assiniboine College student.
  • Carry your valid Assiniboine Student ID card (with photo) and present it along with your U-Pass each time you board the bus.
  • U-Pass cards cannot be shared with friends or members of your family. Only the student who was issued the U-Pass is permitted to use it.

Misuse of your U-Pass card will result in you no longer being able to use it. If your U-Pass is lost, damaged or stolen, a $20 replacement fee is charged, and your old U-Pass is deactivated.
