Salary: $65,184 to $102,262 annually ($34.58 to $54.25 hourly)

(Educational Supplement: Masters $1.60/hour; PhD $3.19/hour)

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to teach our Mini-Trades courses in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation, Manitoba. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students’ construction safety awareness and essential skills in drywall, painting, and interior finishing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure students are familiar with trade safety principles and safe use of hand and power tools
  • Provide a mix of trade fundamentals by engaging students through a variety of interactive lessons and hands-on experiences.
  • Introduce students to foundational skills in carpentry and the construction trades
  • Deliver in-class lectures and in-shop demonstrations to support student understanding and practical application of carpentry concepts.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership throughout the program by demonstrating instructional excellence and modeling our "learn by doing" philosophy.
  • Monitor student progress and liaise with work placement supervisors for practicum experiences for each of the mini-trades.

Qualifications:

  • Several years of wide-ranging industry experience in the construction trades.
  • A personable and friendly approach to instruction and class management, including maintaining a respectful classroom and shop environment.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development, course outlines, and creating lesson plans to deliver program material is an asset.
  • A basic competency with computers and online learning environments.
  • Teaching experience is an asset.
  • Red Seal Carpentry certification is an asset.
