As an Instructor in Allied Health at Assiniboine College, you will be responsible for the design, development and validation of program and course materials for paramedicine education at Assiniboine College. This role is dedicated exclusively to curricular and programmatic development work based on the national competency profile and does not include direct instruction or faciltiation. You’ll contribute to the creation of a new program and industry engagement, all within a college committed to equity, sustainability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of program and course curriculum aligned with the national competency profile, College of Paramedics of Manitoba (CPMB) requirements, and provincial standards.
  • Conduct environmental scans, occupational analyses, and partner consultations to ensure program relevance and responsiveness to workforce needs.
  • Design curriculum that reflects applied learning (“learn by doing”), adult learning principles, and inclusive practices, including universal design for learning, Indigenization, and equity, diversity, and justice principles.
  • Develop high-quality curricular assets, including program learning outcomes, course outlines, assessments, learning activities, and instructional materials.
  • Establish and support quality assurance and continuous improvement processes, including curriculum validation, review, and regulatory alignment.
  • Develop program maps, sequencing course, and delivery frameworks that support student progression and readiness for practice.
  • Create clinical and practicum learning frameworks aligned with real-world paramedicine practice.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, regulatory bodies, and advisory committees to ensure program excellence and currency.
  • Contribute to program planning, implementation, and launch readiness, including resource and equipment planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) certification.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba (CPMB) and hold a valid Certificate of Practice.
  • Minimum of five years of recent experience in the paramedicine field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively in diverse teams, adapt to change, and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving in a dynamic learning environment.
  • Ability to work confidently in a digital environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and a willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools) and college-supported platforms.
  • A commitment to fostering student success, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning is essential.

Asset Qualifications:

  • Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the national competency profile, as well as College of Paramedics of Manitoba standards, regulations, and scope of practice.
  • Experience supporting or developing clinical or practicum frameworks
  • Completion of formal training in adult education.
  • Previous experience in adult education and/or curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), either as a user or facilitator.
  • Knowledge of accreditation requirements and submissions.
