10 graduate from CHCA program in Canupawakpa

Ten of ACC's newest graduates celebrated their achievements with family and friends at a ceremony in their community of Canupawakpa.

The Comprehensive Health Care Aide (CHCA) graduation ceremony was held this past Friday at the recreation complex in Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation. Ten students from the community and surrounding area graduated.

All graduates are in the process of applying for positions in their field, with some already making preparations to apply for the college's Practical Nursing program starting in Melita next January. That site was chosen as one of the next three rural rotating sites to deliver the college's nursing program.

ACC's six-month CHCA certificate program prepares students for work in many types of facilities, assisting people with activities of daily living, meal and mobility assistance, and observation/reporting of patient conditions.
