ACC accepting applications for Practical Nursing program in Winnipeg

Effective immediately, applications will be received for the Practical Nursing program offered at ACC's Winnipeg Training Centre. Applications will be accepted from February 16 to March 24, 2016.

“We continue to see incredible demand for our Practical Nursing program,” said Karen Hargreaves, ACC’s Dean of Health & Human Services. “Graduates have very strong career opportunities here in Manitoba, and are helping to meet the demand for skilled workers in the health care field.”

Applications will be received for the next six weeks, from February 16 to March 24, either in person or by mail to the college’s Admissions & Registrations department at the Victoria Avenue East Campus in Brandon. Any applications mailed or presented in person to ACC’s Winnipeg Training Centre will not be accepted.

All complete applications received in the six-week window will be entered into a lottery selection process. Those interested in applying to study at the Winnipeg Training Centre should visit assiniboine.net/nursing for admission requirements and details on the random draw process.

This is the first time in two years that the college has opened up applications for its Practical Nursing program in Winnipeg, having been working through a waitlist since March 2014 to fill the program.

The Practical Nursing program has intakes starting every September and January, with 35 seats in each cohort.

The college’s two-year Practical Nursing diploma program teaches clinical nursing skills in a laboratory setting as well as applied skills in acute and extended care health facilities, personal care homes, community agencies and private homes. In the last three years, 99 per cent of graduates were employed in occupations related to their training.
