ACC celebrates achievements of 2014 graduates

Today, 822 graduating students will mark an important accomplishment in their personal and professional lives, celebrating their academic success in front of family, friends and college staff.

A total of 679 students will be graduating from 37 different certificate and diploma programs in addition to 143 apprenticeship graduates from six programs.

“It’s gratifying to see our students receive certificates and diplomas that will transform their lives,” said Mark Frison, President of ACC. “Like their family and friends, we at ACC are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”

Every year, the Province of Manitoba awards two graduating ACC students with Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medals. To qualify, the graduate must have excelled academically, displayed strength of character and contributed to the college and community in a meaningful way. This year’s recipients are Lana Hogg, graduating from the Practical Nursing program, and Daniel Kroeker, graduating from the Agribusiness program.

Kevin Nepitabo is this year’s valedictorian and will be graduating from the Aboriginal Community Development program.

Overall, 254 students will be graduating with distinction, meaning they achieved at least a 4.0 cumulative weighted grade point average during their studies.

The college will award entrepreneur Jim Treliving with an honorary diploma in Business Administration at the graduation.

The ceremony takes place today at 2 p.m. at the Keystone Centre in Brandon.
