ACC Day offers Winkler series of events on Oct. 30

Assiniboine Community College has a day jam-packed with activities planned for the community of Winkler on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

“It’s important for us to connect with communities across the province to hear their needs,” said Assiniboine President Mark Frison. “The recent College Review urges that colleges need the ability to be responsive and flexible to support economic growth in rural Manitoba.”

The day kicks off with free coffee and muffins from 7 to 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Quality Inn with Frison, Winkler Mayor Martin Harder and Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt.

The Eagle 93.5 FM will be broadcasting live remotes from the Quality Inn during the coffee session.

At 11 a.m., residents can participate in a free Lunch ’n’ Learn, Keys to Successful Communication, also at the Quality Inn. Due to limited space, they do need to register in advance by calling 204.725.8725.

In the evening, Assiniboine alumni and their friends gather at the Quality Inn at 6 p.m. before attending the Winkler Flyers game at 7:30 p.m.

Students at Northlands Parkway Collegiate will have an event just for them from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- a chance to ask questions of Assiniboine staff about programs they might want to take at the college.
