ACColade breakfast reception recognizes new, existing donors

ACC's Foundation held its annual ACColade breakfast event on Thursday, February 26, at the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, acknowledging eight new donors and 15 existing donors who have reached a new level of giving under the foundation’s ACColade recognition program.

ACC's Foundation held its annual ACColade breakfast event on Thursday, February 26, at the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, acknowledging eight new donors and 15 existing donors who have reached a new level of giving under the foundation’s ACColade recognition program.

“Since the inception of the foundation in 1997, we have worked in partnership with the college in its fundraising efforts to ensure that ACC students have access to the highest quality of college education,” said Bernie Whetter, president of the ACC foundation board of directors.

Over the past year, the foundation has been working on a number of projects to engage the community and continue fundraising efforts. This includes:

• Scholarships, awards and bursaries for students
• Planned giving
• Simulation mannequins for Practical Nursing students

During the 2013-14 fiscal year, $512,879 in donations was received. During that same time period, $385,721 was disbursed for capital projects, student experiences and scholarships, awards and bursaries. A highlight of this total was the $174,220 given out in student awards.

Vanguard Credit Union spoke on behalf of donors at this year’s event. The company is recognized at the ‘Leaders’ level.
