Alumni raise $31K+ for student scholarships, awards and bursaries

The last day of Assiniboine Community College’s $30K in 30 Days alumni giving campaign came to a close November 15, National Philanthropy Day. The Alumni Association hosted a ‘thank you’ event on Wednesday where campaign Co-Chairs thanked donors for their contributions, which helped surpass the target with $31,082 raised for student scholarships, awards and bursaries.

“Thank you to all of our alumni, their employers, friends and family who have generously donated to this initiative,” said Robert Eslinger (Business Administration, class of 1985), Co-Chair of the $30K in 30 Days campaign and member of the Alumni Association board of directors. “Having been a past recipient of an Assiniboine award, I know very well how much impact these funds have on a student’s success.”

“We’ve had over 80 individual alumni donate amounts anywhere from $20 to $200 or more, and it’s all made a difference,” said Caelie Walker (Office Administration, class of 2009), campaign Co-Chair. “Thank you to all the volunteers, students and employers who participated in this worthwhile campaign.”

In 2016-17, Assiniboine distributed scholarships, awards and bursaries to more than 300 students, totaling $342,000.
