Each month, the Cougars Athletic Department would like to recognize two athletes who represent the college by their leadership, sportsmanship and true passion for their sport.

Emmalie Thompson is a member of the Cougars hockey program, a second year forward who is currently ranked 12th in the ACHA with 13 goals, 19 assists and 29 points. Thompson was a member of the 2022 ACHA National Championship squad and looks to bring the title home again this year.

"Emmalie brings a tremendous effort every game and practice, she leads by example and plays a full 200ft game with her tenacious checking" said Head Coach Tony Bertone. "She is a player that is able to strip pucks and setup her line mates for success."

Taylor Cox, a first year on the women's volleyball team, has quickly earned herself a starting role on the court. In the Cougars last five matches, Taylor averages 9.2 kills, 16.6 digs and 1.6 aces per match. The Cougars have won four out of their last five games. In the most recent match against the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers, Taylor put on a show with her season best with 16 kills and 0 errors.

"Taylor continues to make great strides in her game is now a very strong six rotation player" said Head Coach, Kevin Neufeld. "She loves to score and has been a very valuable offensive threat for our team"

Both Emmalie and Taylor are shining examples of what it means to be a student-athlete, both achieving GPA's above 4.0.
