Another Minnedosa talent, Caitlyn Stevenson has been named female athlete of the month. Caitlyn has been a starter for the women’s soccer team since the start. Stevenson played every minute of every game in October, anchoring a busy Cougar defensive back four. Stevenson has the ability of dispossessing opponents, transitioning the ball up field as well as positioning her defensive teammates, all crucial elements as a defender. Her work ethic and positive attitude have been an example to all team mates.

“Caitlyn's leadership on the field and the practice pitch was invaluable to the Cougars this season.”

-Women’s Soccer Head Coach, Mark Dabbs

Danylo Denysevych has been named October male athlete of the month. Two short weeks before the soccer season, Danylo arrived in Canada from Lyceum Samara Dnipro, Ukraine. Danylo is one of the only three walk-on players during tryouts that immediately cracked the starting line-up. Denysevych had been tasked with playing four different positions and has been one of the team’s top goal scorers.

“Danylo has been a wonderful surprise for us; filling in different roles on different parts of the pitch each game - he has been our Mr.Utility. He has had to battle through injuries throughout the season but that has never slowed him down. The coaching staff appreciate how coachable of an athlete he is, and they anticipate good things in his future, this season and next"

-Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach, Adam Gooden
