Tonielle Bachewich is returning to the Cougar women’s soccer team for the 2022 season.

Bachewich was a member of the Cougars soccer team in 2018 and futsal in 2019. Hailing from Sandy Lake, Manitoba, she attended Minnedosa Collegiate. The 5’ 6” striker helped the Minnedosa Chancellors to a Manitoba High School Athletic Association ‘AA’ Provincial Championship in both 2017 and 2018. She received high school all-star awards for soccer in 2015 and her graduating year in 2018. She’s currently keeping up her soccer skills with the Minnedosa Lakers senior women’s team.

“Having been on the team before, I know that the college has a great athletics program that supports athletes and makes being a part of the team an enjoyable experience,” said Bachewich. “I have lots of experience in the sport and I bring speed and ball control to the field.”

“Toni is a strong and intelligent player, able to read the field well, anticipating where the next play will be and taking advantage of weak spots,” said Cougars coach, Kate Broadhead. “As a mid-fielder, she’s got a sharp and accurate shot. She will be one to watch this season as she facilitates plays from the defence and drives attacks towards the opposition.”

Bachewich took the college’s Comprehensive Health Care Aide program, graduating with distinction in 2019. Bachewich’s mother is an alumnus of the college’s Practical Nursing program and Bachewich will be taking the Practical Nursing program in the fall.
