Dylyn Albrecht is the newest recruit to join the Cougars’ Women’s Volleyball 2021 roster. After years of watching the Cougars team on the court, Albrecht knew that one day she wanted to be involved in the growing local program.

The 5’6 setter is the second local from Boissevain, Manitoba to sign to with the Cougars, fellow recruit Natalie Robertson committed last month.

Albrecht started playing volleyball as a kid after being influenced by the older varsity teams at the time.

“Ever since I started playing triple ball volleyball in Grade 5, I knew volleyball was my sport” said Albrecht. “My love for the sport continued to grow as I was always involved in club teams and had a great group of girls to enjoy it with.”

Her achievements on the court included an A/AA JV Provincial Champion as well as a AA Varsity Champion ship in 2019, topping it off with a JV Provincial All-Star in 2018.

As an athlete who tends to be “happiest on the court”, Dylyn also excels off the court. As a member of her school student government and the Boissevain Arts Council Student Art program, Albrecht also helps at local Farmers Markets by hosting activities for the kids.

Jeff Maxwell, the Cougars Women’s Volleyball head coach praises Albrecht high volleyball IQ and athleticism that she will bring to the court.

“We are excited to have Dylyn join our program. Setters are always a priority for us.”

After years of experience working with children, Albrecht’s made the decision to pursue this passion further. She is enrolled in Assiniboine’s Early Childhood Education program this upcoming fall.
