ACC Cougars Athletic Awards

The students at Assiniboine Community College (ACC) were treated to a night of recognition at the annual Student Achievement Celebration dinner held this past Thursday evening at the Keystone Centre.

Throughout the evening, 51 awards were presented to current students, of which, 24 were for athletics.

The major athletic honours of the night were presented to two volleyball players. Brooke Huculak received Female Athlete of the Year and Jordan Todd received Male Athlete of the Year awards.

“Brooke is a tremendous representative of our student athletes. She deserves every bit of the Female Athlete of the Year award,” said Beth Clark, ACC women’s volleyball head coach and manager of athletics.

Brooke was the MVP of the Cougar women’s volleyball team; was voted the women’s volleyball MVP of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference; and was the ‘One to Watch’ award recipient for the Police Studies program. She maintained a 4.18 Grade Point Average and volunteered in the community averaging around 5 hours a week on top of games and practices.

Jordan Todd was named a Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference all-star and also received the Cougar men’s volleyball MVP. He maintained a 3.57 Grade Point Average in the Construction Electrician Apprenticeship program, earning his hours and taking back to back levels (2 & 3) in order to a play a full season with the team.

“Jordan obviously brings skill to the court and we always knew what to expect from him. He brings leadership, commitment, consistency and has a great attitude,” said Joel Small, men’s volleyball head coach.
