Cougar Weekend Update Dec 3

Jasmin Denby had an outstanding showing this weekend for the Cougars two home wins against the North Dakota State University Bison

Everything was coming up Denby this weekend as Jasmin Denby scored four goals across two games, including a hat trick, against North Dakota State University as the Cougars swept a two-game set against the Bisons in Brandon.

On Sunday, Denby filled the net, scoring three times en route to a 6-0 win for the Cougars, who are ranked No. 3 in the West Region of the American Hockey League Association's Divison 2.

Erin Doherty, Samantha Christensen and Stephanie Jones added singles for the Cougars while Marley Quesnel earned the shutout in net against the Bisons, who are ranked No. 4 in the West.

On Saturday, it took overtime to determine a winner and in the end it was Simone Turner-Cummer who played the role of hero. Turner-Cummer streaked down the right wing on a 2-on-1 break and fired a shot that beat the NDSU goalie.

Alix Tosh, Erica McIntosh, Alyssa Alderson and Denby added singles for the Cougars.

The hockey team's final action before the break comes this weekend when they host Rainy River College. Puck drop is 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 10 a.m. on Dec. 9 at the Sportsplex.
