After the cancellation of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) 2020-21 season, the Assiniboine Cougars Women’s Volleyball team have their eyes on the 2021-22 season with their new signing middle blocker, Natalie Robertson.

Natalie Robertson, a Boissevain local standing at 5’9”, did not expect to be finishing high school in this type of fashion. After playing for the Cats Club volleyball team and being a part of the AA Varsity Girls Volleyball Provincial Champion team in 2019, Robertson is ready to get back on the court with the Cougars.

“I’m a competitive player and work hard on improving my skills” said Robertson. She is eager to bring her desire to improve her skills and her positive attitude to the Cougars program. Her past experiences are credited for teaching her to never quit and fueling her competitive nature.

Cougars Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Maxwell expressed the program has had good fortune when it comes to the recruitment of Southern Manitoba. “All the players we have recruited from the Boissevain school have been great additions to our program ad we think Natalie will continue that tradition,” said Maxwell.

“I’ve been watching the Cougars Volleyball program over the years and have always respected the coaching staff and the program” said Robertson. “I’m mostly looking forward to the new opportunities that this program will bring, meeting new people and becoming part of the team.”

When Robertson is not on the court or achieving high school honour roll 3 years in a row, she enjoys the outdoors in the form of hiking and horseback riding.

“My love for volleyball started at a young age,” said Robertson, “I had the opportunity to play club volleyball which expanded the love I already had for the sport. It is my happy place and I love the team aspect on and off the court”.

Natalie has been accepted into the Business program at Assiniboine Community College for the 2021-22 academic year.
