The Assiniboine Cougars Women’s Soccer team is optimistic for return to play, come September. With the building anticipation on what Fall sports will bring; the program has added strong soccer player Natalie Babcock to their 2020 roster.

Babcock, a local midfielder from Neepawa, Manitoba has a true passion for the sport.

“I first decided to play for the social aspect of soccer but ended up loving the fast pace and thrill that the sport brings” says Babcock.

The decision to choose the Cougars’ for Babcock was an easy one having watched the team play in previous years and witnessed their camaraderie.

“I’m excited to meet all the players and coaches and bring my communication skills and quick thinking to the team,” said Babcock.

Babcock made an impression on Cougars Soccer Coach Gerry Rocan this past high school season when she played the captain role during her senior year.

“Natalie is a welcome addition to Cougar Athletics Women Soccer program. Her athletic ability provides a good foundation for her development as a solid mid-field player. She is comfortable with the ball at her feet. Natalie sees the entire pitch and anticipates when to move the ball. She was prior captain of her Neepawa High School team and brings leadership experience to the team. We’re thrilled to have Natalie as the newest member of the program.”

Natalie has been accepted in the Early Childhood Education program at Assiniboine Community College for the 2020-21 academic year.
