Erica Scott MCAC Athlete of the Week

Women's volleyball player, Erica Scott, earned the Manitoba College's Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week nomination for her strong serving and offense in the teams last game versus Red River College.

Erica Scott earned Week 16 Athlete of the Week honors when she had 7 service aces, 2 blocks and 12 kills on 30 attempts to lead her Assiniboine Community Cougars scoring versus the Red River Rebels women’s volleyball team.

However, Cougars head coach Beth Clark says Scott’s value exists beyond just kills and other stat sheet material.

“Erica is a spark for the Cougars. She is energetic and humorous but gets gritty and competitive on the court. She thrives in competition and when she's in the zone she's a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defence.

Scott and the Cougars finished the 2015/16 season with a 12-8 record, good for 3rd in the conference. They'll face the #2-ranked Providence University College Pilots at the 2016 MCAC Volleyball Final Four Championships on February 27th hosted by Providence. The Cougars finished 1-3 against PUC this season, and they will face off in the women's second semi-final starting at 4:00 pm.
