Bailey Taylorson will be joining the Cougars women’s volleyball team in the fall, as a left side hitter.

Taylorson is from MacGregor, Manitoba and graduated from MacGregor Collegiate this month. She is a 5’9” multisport athlete having competed in track and field, baseball, soccer, basketball, badminton and of course volleyball. She played club with various groups including the Prairie Fire, ran out of Portage La Prairie and most recently training with the Cougars U18 club team, which has made her familiar with some of the other recruits joining the Cougars team in the fall.

“I have a passion for volleyball and was happy to have the opportunity to play at a more competitive level,” said Taylorson. “Volleyball is a sport where every person matters and it’s like a second family to me which makes me love the sport even more.”

Taylorson was captain of the Mustangs volleyball team this last season and her two seasons playing Junior Varsity. She was also named MacGregor’s Athlete of the Year and Most Dedicated Athlete in 2022.

“Bailey is a dedicated athlete who with more experience at this level will be a huge benefit to our team,” said Cougars coach Neufeld. “Her love of volleyball shines through every day she’s on the court.”

Taylorson was an honour roll student in high school and hopes to continue her academic success in the college’s Practical Nursing program in the fall.

“Helping others has always been something I wanted to do,” said Taylorson. “I’ve volunteered in hospitals, worked in the fire department with situations most people can’t handle but I find it puts you in a whole new mindset and you have one job - help provide care you are trained to give and get people to the next step in recovery.”
